As CEETV reported earlier, starting weekly from Monday 20 February at 21.00, TV3 Latvia viewers will enjoy a brand new relationship show – The Mirror of Truth. This new makeover show format was devised by NBCUniversal International Formats and TV3 and follows the successful launch of Wedlocked in 2016. The show sees couples undergo changes to improve themselves and their relationship.

Show producer Sandija Miezīte says: "This show can really change people’s lives and bring them to a new level. Of course, provided that both parties want it. It showcases a lot of problems that the couples of today have – the routine in the relationship, workaholism, smoking, device addiction and gambling. It is a reality show about couples battling their relationship demons. Some are better at it, some really struggle. Watching these couples you can see which ones can be truly happy together and which ones should perhaps separate in order to find true happiness in other relationships!”

When two people meet and fall in love, they tend to wear rose-tinted glasses, and everything seems great… until routine creeps in, the first arguments come up and someone gets out of shape. Often, some serious work needs to be done to avoid it.

At the start of each show, the couple must look in the “Mirror of Truth”, which will offer some shocking insight into the outcome of their life as is. The couple will then visit the Vitality Academy where they will devote three weeks to themselves. They will lose weight, learn the principles of a healthy lifestyle and battle the demons of their relationship. Returning home, they must try to implement this new way of living. A two week separation will then follow and the individuals must decide if it is make or break. Eight couples will participate but will eight couples survive?

The visual makeover of the couples will be entrusted to the specialists of the Vitality Academy, while the emotional growth will be handed down to two well-known relationship experts – Agnese Bērziņa, also known as the Ragaciema Agnese and Aina Poiša.

“If a person accepts himself of herself, everything is fine. Therefore we will first pay attention to the person and will help to deal with the outer shell in order to facilitate the changes within. Of course, the show is limited in time, so our task is to push the participants in the right direction so that they can take charge of their own future growth. We hope this show will inspire our viewers to take stock of their own lives and relationship. Every relationship might use some help in order to avoid the rut of the everyday problems,” Aina Poiša says.

“I love people the way they are. That means – I love their essence. And in essence there is the best version of every person. Unfortunately, most people don’t let their best version shine. This show is a chance to see and to fall in love with the best version of ourselves,” says Agnese Bērziņa.

Sanita and Jānis will be the first couple to fight for their relationship. With routine creeping in, the couple are keen to address their issues – Jānis, a workaholic and the pair carrying some extra pounds. But will the guidance get them back on track for a second honeymoon phase?
