Cineflix Rights has signed a deal with TV3 Russia for worldwide exclusive rights to the award-winning new Russian scripted series An Ordinary Woman. Cineflix Rights will be launching the show at MIPCOM 2018.

An Ordinary Woman (8x60’) is the story of 39-year-old Marina – an ordinary woman living an ordinary life in Moscow. She runs her own florist shop, her husband is a surgeon, her younger daughter is in private school, and her older daughter is at university. Her life seems perfect, but behind the façade of this ordinary family lurk some dark secrets. Marina herself is not actually a florist. Instead, she earns her income from running a clandestine network of prostitutes using her mobile phone and a Whatsapp group. Marina’s real source of income is a mystery to her family, and in turn, they all withhold secrets from her: her husband has a mistress, her older daughter skips lectures to deal drugs, and her youngest is a sociopath. An Ordinary Woman is the riveting story of how Marina copes as her carefully constructed house of cards begins to collapse when one of her ‘girls’ is found dead in a hotel room.

An Ordinary Woman, directed by Boris Khlebnikov and produced by 1-2-3 Production and Look Film for TV-3 Channel Russia, is the first Russian drama to be shortlisted for the prestigious Series Mania festival official competition. Its star, Anna Mikhalkova, won the coveted best actress award for a performance which judges described as a “sensitive and nuanced performance of a strong woman who constantly has to repress her most private feelings to survive in a corrupted society.”

The deal to acquire An Ordinary Woman was brokered by Julien Leroux, SVP, Global Scripted Co-Productions, Cineflix Media and Richard Life, VP Acquisitions, Cineflix Rights.
