CEENewsmax announces plans to launch a channel in Ukraine
U.S. news network Newsmax has signed a licensing agreement to launch Newsmax Ukraine, a localized news channel expected to begin broadcasting in the spring of 2026, the company said on its website.
The channel will operate under the Newsmax brand and within its editorial framework. Based in Kyiv, Newsmax Ukraine will focus on producing original local and regional content for audiences in Ukraine, Eastern Europe and the wider region. The channel plans to produce original news, analytical programming and public affairs shows, the New Voice of Ukraine reports. It will also provide Ukrainian-language rebroadcasts of Newsmax content while developing English- and Russian-language formats tailored to international and regional audiences. According to Interfax-Ukraine, journalist and media manager Liudmyla Nemyria has been approved as Newsmax Ukraine’s general producer. She will oversee the channel’s development, editorial policy and other operational areas. Corporate registry data from YouControl show that Newsmax Ukraine LLC was registered in late September 2020 with a charter capital of 1 million hryvnias. The company’s founders include Poland-based Varzar LLC, owned by Latvian national Roman Varlamovs, with an 85% stake, and Nemyria, who holds 15%. “The creation of Newsmax Ukraine is an important milestone in Newsmax’s international expansion strategy, and we are pleased to see this partnership come to life,” said Andrew Biggers, Newsmax’s senior vice president for content distribution. The channel plans to position Kyiv as a regional media hub for Eastern Europe and beyond and to recruit journalists and experts with regional and international expertise. RELATED
